Dear FRIENDS and NEIGHBORS,
We are excited to share this unique invitation to DOUBLE YOUR INVESTMENT in the future of our shared community!
The Calvary Center for Culture and Community and Calvary United Methodist Church are moving forward on plans to install an energy-efficient heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) system in the most heavily used spaces of the historic Calvary church building.
The Calvary building has been a vital community anchor at the intersection of 48th Street and Baltimore Avenue for more than 125 years! And it remains a vibrant hub of community activity and engagement for West and Southwest Philadelphia.
The HVAC @ CALVARY MATCHING GIFT CAMPAIGN aims to make the building more comfortable and welcoming for its many and diverse users. And it is only a preliminary step in the Calvary Center’s forthcoming, comprehensive ‘Anchoring the Future’ Capital Campaign to make the building structurally sound, more accessible, more energy-efficient, and more versatile for multipurpose use. More on that to come.
THE GOOD NEWS FOR NOW? We’ve already raised nearly $85,000 toward our goal of fully matching a $100,000 grant from the National Fund for Sacred Places!
THE BETTER NEWS? With less $35,000 to go, YOUR DONATION will be matched dollar for dollar. That’s twice the impact: $50 becomes $100, $250 becomes $500, and $100,000 becomes $200,000!
YOUR INVESTMENT in the Calvary building is an investment in the common good. We appreciate anything you can do to support this effort and join with your neighbors in helping to ensure the Calvary building remains a vital and vibrant community anchor for another 125 years.
With gratitude,
Richard Kirk
