Crossroads
Music
Crossroads Music organizes
public performances by accomplished musicians with roots in cultures
from around the world. Our concerts, workshops, master classes,
lectures, and other activities educate the public by providing a
welcoming and affordable environment for music-lovers of all ages
and backgrounds to explore seldom-heard sounds and engage in intercultural
dialogue. We also work closely with other community and cultural
organizations that share our goals.
Crossroads is a community-based
not-for-profit organization where musicians retain the freedom to
stay close to their roots and also explore new avenues of expression.
We are inspired by and seek to maintain West Philadelphia’s historic
role as a diverse and inclusive meeting place for different cultures,
social and economic classes, and progressive social movements.

Curio
Theatre Company
Curio Theatre Company
was founded in 2001 by Gay Carducci, Paul Kuhn, and Jared Reed with
a goal to illuminate classic works and styles selected from a wide
variety of sources (novels, dramas, poetry, art, epic, history).
The three met at Hedgerow Theatre, Rose Valley, PA. Also veterans
of Hedgerow Theatre, Aetna Gallagher, joined the company in 2003,
and Keren White, in 2004, when the company registered as a non-profit
501c3 company.
Curio began as a touring
company serving regional schools in and around Philadelphia and
beyond. Past tours include many local high schools, elementary schools,
Philadelphia University of the Sciences, Temple University, and
the University of Oxford, UK.
Curio is now in the process
of moving into Calvary Church, at 48th Street and Baltimore Avenue,
in partnership with Calvary Center for Culture and Community (CCCC).
This will be the company’s first year operating from their own theatre
offices and permanent rehearsal space, from which to run classes
for all ages, outreach programs, and a full 2005-6 season of performances.
Curio is currently running an outreach program to the Lea School
in West Philadelphia funded by the University of Pennsylvania and
the Graduate School of Education.
Curio and CCCC are currently
working to raise funds to convert the historic sanctuary within
Calvary Church into a fully operational theatre within the heart
of University City. In the meantime, Curio are launching their first
full season at the Walnut Street Studio 5 Theatre, beginning August
2005, while the space at Calvary is being developed.

Prometheus
Radio
The mission of Prometheus
Radio is:
- To serve as a microradio
resource center offering legal, technical, and organizational
support for the non-commercial community broadcasters
- To research and develop
technical resources in anticipation of legalized micro-radio.
Upon legalization, we will offer technical services to non-commercial
micro-stations- equipment testing, frequency searching, submitting
FCC applications, studio advice and so on
- To sponsor and produce
educational tours, conferences, events and literature on microradio
and democratic media issues.
- To serve as a public
interest advocate on microradio issues, and to help facilitate
public participation in the FCC rulemaking and legislative process.
- To help start a regional
micropower association, which could eventually serve as a self-regulating
association for low power fm analagous to the ARRL for HAM radio.
Until this is formed, we will perform some of its future functions,
primarily performing a coordinating and secretarial role to facilitate
communications among existing stations.
